Do you find your world full of distractions and noise, from cell phones and social media to mirrors and even your own voice? Lent is a good time to get away from such distractions, and seek to live more deeply in Christ. Our District Superintendent has written a book titled Give It Up! to guide us in doing just that, by fasting from several such distractions, each for a week at a time during Lent. For example, a week without mirrors allows us to see the true beauty within, while a week of silence attunes us to God’s voice and the sounds of life. Dottie Escobedo-Frank reflects on her own experiences, and encourages us to meet the challenge of each week’s fast. You have the opportunity to join a group discussing the superintendent’s book (and sharing soup) on Sunday evenings during Lent. We will meet from 6 to about 7:30 p.m., from February 14 through March 27 (Easter).
Please sign up in the Fellowship Hall on February 7, if possible, so we will know how many books to order. (Especially do so if you want to participate most weeks but can’t make it on Valentine’s Day.) There will be a sample chapter to look at. Zhenya Knoche and Jeanette Davis are the co-leaders.
